Who Walk After the Spirit
-
-
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
-
(Romans 8:1)
-
-
This is possibly the most important verse of Scripture in the Bible that
deals with the believer's relationship with God and yet it is hardly preached
about at all.
-
The reasons being, firstly, that the heading phrase as above is omitted
from certain versions of the Bible due to Satan's influence, and secondly,
because many preachers are afraid of losing lukewarm followers for various
reasons.
-
This is a wake-up call for many professing Christians who have not yet
clicked back to another web site.
-
Please do not let that feeling of distress you are feeling right
now stop you from reading further. The few minutes that you spend now may
just alter your future eternal destination. That feeling of distress is
possibly because you do not want to leave your comfort zone? Possibly you
reckon that you know about the subject already. Possibly you "speak in
tongues" and this is evidence that you are born again - that you are saved?
Possibly your minister has told you that you are going to heaven?
-
Yebo?
-
Ja well, no fine, but are you willing to chance it? Am I?
-
-
Wake up part one
-
In the middle of preparing this teaching we watched a video by a well known
international preacher concerning tattoos.
-
He led us to:
-
Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use
enchantment, nor observe times. Ye shall not round the corners of your
heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. Ye shall not make
any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you:
I am the LORD.
-
(Leviticus 19:26-28)
-
So, it would appear that you must not tattoo your body.
-
Here's one for the ladies:
-
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with
shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls,
or costly array;
-
(1 Timothy 2:9)
-
Why?
-
I am the LORD
-
(Leviticus 19:28b)
-
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto all the congregation
of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the
LORD your God am holy. Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his
father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
-
(Leviticus 19:1-3)
-
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of
conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
-
(1 Peter 1:15-16)
-
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether
it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are
sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them
that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put
to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your
liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour
all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. Servants,
be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the
good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thankworthy,
if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye
shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it,
ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto
were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that ye should follow his steps:
-
(1 Peter 2:13-21)
-
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:
and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be
of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely
be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let
them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their
souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
-
(1 Peter 4:17-19)
-
-
We all have this sin nature but we who hear the voice of Jesus (John 18:37b)
must each use our wills to suppress it to the best of our ability and listen
for that still small voice that is so often heard while communing with
our Maker in our closet.
-
-
Because of personal anger Moses, who was the greatest prophet of them all,
lost his temper one day with the disobedient Israelites and smote the rock
that was Jesus - remember?
-
Here was his reward for a moment's lapse after forty years of faithful
service:
-
And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying, Get thee up into
this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land
of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan,
which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession: And die in the
mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron
thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people: Because
ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of
Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not
in the midst of the children of Israel. Yet thou shalt see the land before
thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the
children of Israel.
-
(Deuteronomy 32:48-52)
-
But yet he was one who spoke to Jesus on the mount of transfiguration.
-
-
Wake up part two
-
The people in some Pentecostal and Charismatic circles believe that Jesus
has entered His rest and that the Holy Spirit has taken His place. All
emphasis seems to be on the person of the Holy Spirit:
-
So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven,
and sat on the right hand of God.
-
(Mark 16:19)
-
This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore
being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father
the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see
and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself,
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy
foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly,
that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and
Christ.
-
(Acts 2:32-36)
-
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat
down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies
be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them
that are sanctified. Whereof
the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said
before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those
days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their
minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember
no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering
for sin.
-
(Hebrews 10:12-18)
-
-
Does this mean that Jesus is doing nothing but sitting in the Covenant
position of honour?
-
Not at all, let's see what the Scriptures tell us:
-
In the Old Covenant Jesus was active as the Spiritual protector and Comforter
of the Children of Israel:
-
Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring
thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his
voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for
my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and
do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an
adversary unto thine adversaries. For mine Angel shall go before thee,
and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites,
and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them
off.
-
(Exodus 23:20-23)
-
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual
Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
-
(1 Corinthians 10:4)
-
And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now
come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said
unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the captain of the LORD'S
host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place
whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
-
(Joshua 5:14-15)
-
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man
came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they
brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory,
and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:
his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
-
(Daniel 7:13-14)
-
-
Then Jesus became a man with blood pumping in His veins - but without sin.
-
For a purpose:
-
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the
prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
-
(Matthew 5:17)
-
And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom
of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
-
(Luke 4:43)
-
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me
not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
-
(John 5:43)
-
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever
believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
-
(John 12:46)
-
-
However, Jesus still speaks to us through the Holy Spirit now:
-
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began
both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that
he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles
whom he had chosen:
-
(Acts 1:1-2)
-
What does Jesus tell the Holy Spirit to say- to each of us individually?
-
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with
you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath
seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest
thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that
I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in
me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and
the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
-
(John 14:9-11)
-
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me,
he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto
him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my
sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which
sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present
with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things
to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
-
(John 14:23-26)
-
-
So, we who are reborn of the Holy Spirit of truth and grace hear
the words that Jesus preached and are the same which He heard from His
Father, the Living Caring Unchanging God.
-
This can therefore only mean that the Commandments of God still stand:
-
The law and the prophets were until John:
since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth
into it. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle
of the law to fail.
-
(Luke 16:16-17)
-
-
It also means that we obey them out of love for our Creator whom we know
and revere and willingly submit to. Yes, submit to - and hear from, and
whose loving Presence we experience continually and recognise regularly.
-
Hallelujah!
-
-
What are the implications?
-
God made a Covenant with Abraham, then with Isaac, and then with Jacob
(Israel). Most professing Christians know that, but do we understand what
this meant and means?
-
-
This (Old) Covenant still stands and was renewed with the Children of Israel
under the mountain:
-
And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before
their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. And all the people
answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do.
And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD. And the LORD
said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people
may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told
the words of the people unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go
unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash
their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the
LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. And
thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to
yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the
border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot
through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the
trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount. And Moses went
down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they
washed their clothes. And he said unto the people, Be ready against the
third day: come not at your wives. And it came to pass on the third
day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick
cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that
all the people that was in the camp trembled. And Moses brought
forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the
nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because
the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the
smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice
of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake,
and God answered him by a voice. And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai,
on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top
of the mount; and Moses went up. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down,
charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many
of them perish.
-
(Exodus 19:7-21)
-
And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which
have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee
any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in
heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is
in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,
nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting
the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands
of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the
name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is
the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work,
thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,
nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in
six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them
is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath
day, and hallowed it. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may
be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not
kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt
not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy
neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant,
nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is
thy neighbour's. And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings,
and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people
saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
-
(Exodus 20:1-18)
-
And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab,
and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh;
neither shall the people go up with him. And Moses came and told the people
all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered
with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we
do. And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the
morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according
to the twelve tribes of Israel. And he sent young men of the children of
Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of
oxen unto the LORD. And Moses took half of the blood, and put it
in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. And
he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people:
and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said,
Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning
all these words.
-
(Exodus 24:1-8)
-
-
As we see, this Covenant of blood (of life) was made with the nation
of the Hebrews - the people were commanded to obey the Lord God Almighty.
-
The commandments were repeated to another generation of that same nation
some forty years later:
-
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice
of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which
I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above
all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and
overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt
thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body,
and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase
of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket
and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in,
and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall
cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy
face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven
ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses,
and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in
the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. The LORD shall establish thee
an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt
keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. And all
people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD;
and they shall be afraid of thee. And the LORD shall make thee plenteous
in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and
in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers
to give thee. The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven
to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work
of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not
borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou
shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken
unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day,
to observe and to do them: And thou shalt not go aside from any
of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or
to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. But it shall
come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God,
to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command
thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake
thee:
-
(Deuteronomy 28:1-15)
-
-
It was the descendants of one man, Abraham, who pleased God, who became
the nation of the Hebrews whom God chose to make a Covenant with. However,
each individual in that nation was firstly expected to worship God, and
secondly to be obedient to the terms of the Covenant. It was and is a two-way
street.
-
And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify
among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to
do, all the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you;
because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong
your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
-
(Deuteronomy 32:46-47)
-
-
In studying the forty year wanderings of the Children of Israel it is evident
that this power was available on earth. Similar occurrences were commonplace
during the reign of David the king.
-
As we have already seen, the power of God in those days appeared to be
through Mine Angel - Jesus Christ.
-
Also the power of God today is in the Holy Spirit whom Jesus Christ sent
to replace His presence when He ascended to the right-hand of God the Father.
-
His, Jesus' power is latent, to be used by believers - for God the
Father's glory, not their own glorification.
-
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it
in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments
of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that
are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness
unto God. For sin shall not
have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace?
God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey,
his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience
unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin,
but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
-
(Romans 6:12-18)
-
-
The Holy Spirit is a Person, not as we know the word because He has no
body to look at, but nevertheless He is.
-
God is I AM; Jesus Christ is I AM; the Holy Spirit is I AM.
-
-
Christians can use these examples from God's word as a guide of what to
expect, firstly because God is unchanging and secondly because God wants
us to use His power so that He can be glorified - that His Kingdom
may come on earth.
-
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer,
being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which
is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And
Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he
gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter
said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the
right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle
bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered
with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
-
(Acts 3:1-8)
-
-
Just as most of the Children of Israel who came out of Egypt died in the
desert because of unbelief, so most professing Christians will die in the
spiritual desert because of not believing unto righteousness.
-
-
Here is the way out of the Spiritual desert:
-
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that
I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin
that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil
is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind,
and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself
serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. There is
therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the
law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that
it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness
of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness
of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.
-
(Romans 7:19-8:4)
-
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike.
Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the
day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day,
to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the
Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he
eateth not, and giveth God thanks. For none of us liveth to himself, and
no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and
whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die,
we are the Lord's.
-
(Romans 14:5-8)
-

-
-
The above passage of Scripture in Deuteronomy chapter twenty eight was
to the nation of Israel. Born again Christians form a geographically
scattered nation of God: a Spiritual nation. If all these Christians
were to practice what the Bible teaches, can we conceive what shall happen
to planet earth?
-
If a study of past and present revivals etc. were to be conducted, it would
be found that in the physical area of where the presence of Holy Spirit
empowered Christians was concentrated, supernatural occurrences were commonplace.
For example, in his biography, Charles Finney, who was one of the most
fiery preachers of his day, mentions this Spiritual phenomenon more than
once. At the time of the Welsh revival it was recorded that sailors who
had been at sea for months fell on their knees soon after their feet touched
the wharf-side in Cardiff. Angus Buchan mentioned a similar happening immediately
prior to one of his "mighty men" conferences.
-
-
It would seem therefore that faith with action of the believers
will enable the power of God to operate. In other words the power of darkness
is rolled back by the power of the Holy Spirit of truth and grace who is
enabled to operate through the obedience of the believers.
-
Satan flees from the Power of God.

-
-
In the New Covenant of His blood - the one made on behalf of mankind by
the Son of man, the Lord Jesus Christ, the people individually determine
to obey God's commandments out of love for the Man who died for them. As
a result of this love (charity) they each receive the indwelling Holy Spirit
to empower, help and comfort them in the work of the Lord - for His glory.
-
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with
you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath
seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest
thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that
I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in
me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and
the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall
he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I
go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I
do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing
in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And
I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he
may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the
world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but
ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not
leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the
world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me,
and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is
that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and
I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto
him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto
us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him,
If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and
we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not
keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the
Father's which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet
present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom
the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring
all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
-
(John 14:9-26)
-
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send
unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth
from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness,
because ye have been with me from the beginning.

(John 15:26-27)
-
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient
for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come
unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come,
he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go
to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of
this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot
bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide
you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he
shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew
it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore
said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and
ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
-
(John 16:7-16)
-
-
We know that the Bible is the word of God.
-
We know therefore that if we change any part we shall be dealt with by
the Author.
-
-
We have already seen from John chapter fourteen that the Holy Spirit is
the same person as the Holy Ghost.
-
-
He is part of the Triune God:
-
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and
the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
-
(1 John 5:7)
-
-
He is the Spirit of Truth:
-
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all
truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
-
(John 16:13)
-
He is the Spirit of Grace. Yes, He is who dispenses grace:
-
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who
hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the
covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite
unto the Spirit of grace?
-
(Hebrews 10:29)
-
He it is, who gives us life in Christ Jesus:
-
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from
the law of sin and death.
-
(Romans 8:2)
-
-
The Holy Spirit is the power of God on the earth today
-
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they
should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father,
which, saith he, ye
have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized
with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were
come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time
restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them,
It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath
put in his own power. But
ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea,
and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when
he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud
received him out of their sight.
-
(Acts 1:4-9)
-
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord
in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing
mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there
appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each
of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem
Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised
abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that
every man heard them speak in his own language.
-
(Acts 2:1-6
-
-
It is the same power that the Father gave to the Son!
-
The Holy Spirit does not defend His position of power because the Spiritual
Light of God that Jesus lit is still around and we shall be spiritually
blessed or damned according to how we each use or misuse the comfort that
is offered.
-
Believers are people of the Holy Spirit.
-
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit
of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is
none of his.
-
(Romans 8:9)
-
-
Today, is all the work of God done by the Holy Spirit?
-
Is God the Father still working on the earth?
-
God the Father (Jehovah) still gives us rain as He promised Noah not so?
He also withholds rain. He causes earthquakes, tsunamis etc. and the seasons
follow on one after the other.
-
God is unchanging.
-
We also know that various people in the Old Covenant were blessed with
the presence of the Holy Spirit:
-
And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy
with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
-
(1 Samuel 10:6)

God gave the physical world to Adam to control.
-
Adam gave it to Satan when he obeyed Eve rather than God.
-
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants
ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto
righteousness?
-
(Romans 6:16)
-
-
So Satan is the ipso facto god of this world, to all the adams and eves.
-
God is omnipotent (more powerful than anyone else) so He could take the
world back at any time, but He is also perfect, and because He no longer
is the owner of this world, it would be sin to take it back by force. Adam
gave it away, the new Adam (believers) should take it back? The
only way he will be able to do this is with God's help and the only way
that God is prepared to do so is through the power of the Holy Spirit within
each believer. However, the vessel that God will use will be an obedient
vessel; one that is completely guided by Him. Only in this way, with soulish
man in neutral, can God drive the power of darkness away.
-
Will He ever find such vessels?
-
-
God is perfect, that is why He is God.
-
He is the Creator of All things.
-
His name is Jealous (Jehova-Quana):
-
For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is
Jealous, is a jealous God:
-
(Exodus 34:14)
-
-
You might say "That's unjust, jealousy is a sin. How can God be perfect
and jealous?"
-
However we are in no position to complain because we are God's creation
and extremely privileged that we even know Him.
-
And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the
fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders
of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.
Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance
of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the
appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber. And he put forth the
form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted
me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of
God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the
north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh
to jealousy. And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there,
according to the vision that I saw in the plain. Then said he unto me,
Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted
up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate
of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. He said furthermore unto
me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations
that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from
my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater
abominations. And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked,
behold a hole in the wall. Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in
the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. And he said
unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So
I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable
beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall
round about. And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of
the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of
Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense
went up. Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients
of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his
imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the
earth. He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt
see greater abominations that they do. Then he brought me to the door of
the gate of the LORD'S house which was toward the north; and, behold,
there sat women weeping for Tammuz. Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen
this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see
greater abominations than these. And he brought me into the inner court
of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD,
between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men,
with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward
the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. Then he said unto
me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the
house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here?
for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke
me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will
I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity:
and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not
hear them.

Can you or I imagine how lonely and sad God must be?
-
Is that perhaps why He created man in His image, male and female; to procreate
and populate the earth, that each is given the chance to choose - to decide
to submit and follow Jesus?
-
O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee?
testify against me. For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and
redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses,
Aaron, and Miriam. O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted,
and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal;
that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD. Wherewith shall I come
before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come
before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD
be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers
of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit
of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what
is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly,
and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
-
(Micah 6:3-8)
-
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that
blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour
Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all
iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
-
(Titus 2:11-14)

-
Imagine the Jubilee; the celebration of Joy when the Father is joined with
all His Spiritual Children!
-
-
Where we will fit in to all of God's plan shall be revealed to us one day
- in God's time. We must just ensure that we are there.

You might say "Some people seem to have a life that is filled with the
presence of the power of God. I am a practising Christian, go to church
regularly, but nothing different happens to me. I want to feel the presence
of God, to experience His providence, see some miracles."
-
Yes?
-
-
Are you prepared to give up your present lifestyle and do what God tells
you?
-
-
Really, Really?
-
-
Not talky talkies, but walky walkies?
-
-
Okay
-
-
Firstly determine that you are going to worship Him by yourself for about
thirty minutes each day, summer and winter, year in and year out: preferably
at a set time, away from distractions.
-
Secondly, purchase an inexpensive KJV Bible, Ou Vertaling, or if you have
a different home language, a Bible in that language - of the oldest version
that there is. For example, if there is one that was first published in
1925 and another in 1965, choose the oldest.
-
"Why?"
-
You'll soon learn why.
-
-
Each day, once you have settled yourself and imagined yourself in God's
throne-room, start talking to Him. Ask Him to give you an understanding
heart so that you can worship Him as He wishes it.
-
Thank Him for the new day, for what He has provided in your life, and talk
to Him as a loving Father. Praising Him for His goodness and lovingkindness.
Sometimes you shall feel the need to get on your knees in subjection and
adoration. Then ask and you shall receive the Holy Spirit into your body.
-
-
After a few minutes open your Bible and start reading from the beginning
- aloud - to yourself. Each day, follow on from where you left off.
-
-
After a time your prayer-life will be enriched to such an extent that you
can talk to Him at any time anywhere, knowing that He is listening,
even talking to you through that medium.
-
And you will learn why you made a wise choice in your Bible purchase when
you meet your Loving Gracious Creator while speaking His words.
-
Thereafter you shall learn to meditate on your Creator's words and
a richer life shall be yours.
-
-
Meditate:
-
vi to reflect deeply (with on or upon); to engage
in contemplation. vt to consider deeply, reflect upon, to revolve
in the mind, to intend.
-
-
You shall become one of His beloved, without condemnation as He smells
the sweet savour of your continual worship. You shall also be under His
Spiritual wing; His protection.
-
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers
of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall
not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are
not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore
the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation
of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the
way of the ungodly shall perish.
-
(Psalms 1:1-6)
-
And one day we, the bride of Christ, shall be without sin, walking and
talking with Him in the heavenly Eden, the New Jerusalem.
-
Hallelujah!
-
-
Where the presence of the Lord is, there is holiness:
-
Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian:
and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain
of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him
in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold,
the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses
said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is
not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called
unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said,
Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes
from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he
was afraid to look upon God.
-
(Exodus 3:1-6)
-
Where the presence of the Spirit is, there is grace:
-
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some
is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye
see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received
the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which
shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without
mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose
ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of
God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified,
an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we
know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense,
saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is
a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
-
(Hebrews 10:25-31)

This following seems to be an adequate illustration of the workings of
God toward mankind:
-
God the Father is the Creator, made us for His pleasure, cares for us and
has made His will known to us.
-
God the Son is the Doer and writer of God's will so that we are able to
understand it.
-
God the Holy Ghost shows us God's will in various ways by being in us in
a living way.
-
-
Without all of these being recognised and present in one's life - disaster.
-
-
Why do we spend so much time concerning worldly matters and so little time
in God's? Because we do not spend enough time meditating in God's
word with the aid of the Comforter.
-
-
We come to the Father in the name of our Covenant Representative, Jesus
Christ the doer. We are also instructed to be doers of God's will by the
Holy Spirit who resides in us.
-
All Glory to God!
-
-
Our Lord , Jesus Christ paid the price for our sinful nature.
-
All men everywhere have a sinful nature and shall only be able to come
to God through the medium of recognition, acceptance and thankfulness of
the price paid by the Son of God, the Son of man, on our behalf.
-
Jesus was a living example for us, making a Covenant of blood (His life)
for our sins and being resurrected by God's power as an example for us;
showing us that if we are obedient to God's wishes we can expect God's
reward. Moreover, our Spiritual Father cares for us so much that He sent
His Spirit to help us because of our sinful nature.
-
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made
with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds
of the earth be blessed. Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus,
sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
-
(Acts 3:25-26)
-
-
Every one that is of the truth heareth
my voice.
-
